Three Griffin Spikers Named NAIA Scholar Athlete

Kelsey Schaufler was one of the Griffins named a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete.
SALT LAKE CITY – Three members of the Westminster women's volleyball team were recognized for their performance in the classroom by being named a 2009 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete. Ericka Evans, Katie McLintock, and Kelsey Schaufler were named to the list of 304 student-athletes from across the country.

This is the second consecutive year that Schaufler received this recognition. For Evans and McLintock, this was the first time they have received the honor. Nominated by each institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status to qualify.

Westminster completed the 2009 season with a 9-20 overall record and finished fifth in the Frontier Conference with a 6-8 record. Junior Tahnie Blymiller was named the conference Libero of the Year and was joined on the All-Conference First Team by Evans.
