BUTTE, Mont. - The men's and women's golf teams had their first tournament of the season at the Montana Tech Invitational which was held at the Fairmont Golf Course in Butte, Montana. The course is a par 72.
Gary Knight won the men's individual event, becoming the first Griffin in school history to win a tournament. Knight finished the tournament five under par to win by two strokes. During the three day event he shot 71, 69, and 71 to end with a combined score of 211. The men's team finished with a three round score of 937 which put them in 7th place overall. Bruce Till finished tied for 25th (230), Matthew Stern (243), Nick Cruz (244), Josh Hulboky (251), Chad Moffat (252), and Christopher Ames (254). Montana Tech won the Men's event by two strokes over Lewis-Clark State with a total score of (873).
The women's team shot a combined 1,412 and placed 8th overall. They were led by Keshia Catten who finished 32nd (321). The remaining women's scores are Jesika Hilton (343), Annie Haperstock (356), Jessica Roestenburg (389), Suzanne Young (392), Shonti Breisch (429), and Tawnee Espinoza (440). Rocky Mountain College won the Women's event by five strokes over Lewis-Clark State with a total score of (963).
