Successful First Season for Westminster Women's Lacrosse

SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's lacrosse team recently completed the inaugural season of the program. They finished the year with a 3-5 overall record and went 3-3 in the Rocky Mountain Women's Lacrosse League. The Griffins finished 2-3 on Dumke Field, including a 17-8 win against Wyoming in the inaugural game for the program.

Westminster picked up two more wins against Northern Colorado and the Colorado School of Mines. They also challenged themselves by taking on 11th-ranked Brigham Young and faced the University of Toronto and Pepperdine. They picked up the first win away from home when they beat Colorado School of Mines, 11-4, on April 12.

Erika Rebentisch finished the year with 22 goals and 23 points to lead all Griffins. Amanda McIntyre finished with 12 goals and three assists for 15 points. Sage West tallied six goals and Lauryn Simmons added four goals. Marti Denkers posted an 11.50 goals against average while playing every minute in goal for the Griffins.

Rebentisch and Denkers were each named All-Conference by the RMWLL. Rebentisch was named to the second team while Denkers made the third team. Westminster had 24 different players suit up during the inaugural season. They finished fourth in the RMWLL with the 12 points the collected. They had an entire road trip cancelled due to snow, eliminating four games from their original schedule.
