SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster men's basketball team has signed Jordan Bjornberg to an NAIA letter of intent for the 2009-10 season head coach Tommy Connor announced on Tuesday. Bjornberg is the fourth player to sign with the team for next season and the third from Idaho.
Bjornberg, a 6-6 forward from Blackfoot, Idaho, averaged 19.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per game during his senior season at Blackfoot High School. He was named the 2008-09 Idaho Player of the Year and was First Team All-State. During the Idaho State Tournament, Bjornberg averaged 24 points and 10 rebounds while leading his team to the consolation championship. He is also a member of the Honor Roll. His final decision came down to Westminster, Idaho State, College of Southern Idaho, Air Force, and Utah Valley.
"We are very fortunate to have Jordan join our basketball program," said Connor. "He is a very gifted athlete with an unbelievable upside. Jordan has the ability to be a tremendous player at our level if he learns to play hard every possession and defend. I am confident that he will do both from day one. We fully expect Jordan to have an outstanding career here at Westminster."
Westminster is coming off the most successful season in school history with a 30-5 record and a trip to the NAIA National Tournament quarterfinals. They won both the Frontier Conference regular season and tournament championships for the first time in school history.
