SALT LAKE CITY – The 2009 Frontier Conference Cross Country Championships are coming to Salt Lake City and will be hosted by Westminster College. The event will be held on Friday, November 6, at Sugar House Park. This will be the first time that Westminster has hosted the event.
There will be a championship banquet for all conference teams held on Thursday, November 5, leading into the 8K men's race and the 5K women's race the next day. Following the two races, there will be an award ceremony near the start/finish line in the park.
“We look forward to hosting the 2009 Frontier Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships here in Salt Lake City,” Westminster Director of Athletics
Shay Wyatt commented. “Sugar House Park will be a great venue to host this championship meet and provide a very positive experience for the competing teams. In addition, the championships will allow Westminster College to showcase their men's and women's cross country teams by allowing our student-athletes the opportunity to compete in front of their home town fans.”
Lewis-Clark State College hosted the 2008 event and came away with a sweep of the titles. They saw each of their teams claim the team championship and the automatic invite to the NAIA National Championships.
