2009 FALL SCHEDULE

The Griffins men's lacrosse team welcomed twenty freshmen to the practice field. September has been a busy month of drills and weight lifting as we settle into our fourth year of competition. This month we will kick off another year of competition, matching our skills with several talented teams from throughout the western US. The first test will be on Friday, (Oct 2nd, 4:00 PM), as the young Griffins travel to Orem, Utah to play the Wolverines of Utah Valley University. The next week (Oct 9th, 4:00 PM) we'll travel to Logan, Utah to face-off with the Aggies of Utah State.

Over the fall break weekend we'll host an MCLA Division I powerhouse from Vancouver, Canada when Simon Fraser University visits Salt Lake City. Game time with the Clansmen is slated for Sunday, Oct 18th at 11:00 AM. On October 23rd the Griffins will host neighboring University of Utah at Dumke Field. That contest will start at 3:30 PM.

The final "local" play for the Griffins this fall will be on Halloween Day (Oct 31st) as the Griffins host a fist annual "Halloween Screamfest" in Sandy Utah. This fun event will attract six colleges and six HS boys all-star teams for round robin play at Sandy's Lone Peak Park. The college teams and HS teams will alternate use of the fields with three college games running side by side at 9:00 AM, 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM, while the HS boys will take the field and play at 10:00 AM, noon and 2:00 PM.

The Griffins follow a three year tradition of traveling to Las Vegas to close out the fall season. On Nov 6th and 7th the Griffins will play four contests in the MCLA Best of the West. The schedule has not yet been set for that event, though rumor has it that University of California-Berkeley and Arizona State will be two of the four opponents to test the 2010 Griffins on their final weekend of fall lacrosse.
