HELENA, Mont. – The Westminster cross country teams completed the Carroll College Invitational on Saturday with their best results of the young season. The women's team finished with 41 points to finish in second place, five points behind Carroll. The men's team finished in third place behind Rocky Mountain College and Carroll College respectively. Both races were a 5K.
Amanda Theobald led the women's team with a second place finish thanks to a time of 19:22. She was followed by
Samantha Robinson in fifth with a time of 20:36.
Helen Ho finished the course in 21:10 to place 10th overall and
Sarah Martin finished 11th with her 21:33 time.
Cassie Mulkey rounded out the Griffin team with a 22:57 time and a 21st-place finish.
The men were paced by
David Sondrup and 16th-place finish with a time of 17:50.
Nathan Hansen went 18:51 to finish 24th and was followed in 25th by
Chris Cain with a time of 18:55. Ben Young went 21:41 to place 33rd while
Romnick Poindexter completed the course in 21:55 to finish 34th.
“This was a good step for us to be able to compete with these teams from our conference,” head coach Craig Binkley said. “This was a better overall performance by each team.”
The next event for the Griffins is the Gary Judd Invitational hosted by Sierra College. That event takes place on October 10 in Rocklin, California.
