SNOWBASIN, Utah – The Westminster men's and women's alpine ski teams each picked up sweeps at the Weber State Invitational at the Wildcat Bowl at Snowbasin over the weekend. The race featured a slalom event on Friday, January 29 and a giant slalom race on Saturday, January 30. The second giant slalom race scheduled for January 31 was cancelled due to weather.
The men's team won Friday's slalom race by having three of the top four finishers. Jurgen Karner won the individual title with Jens Aune placing third and Lorentz Gedde-Dahl in fourth. In Saturday's giant slalom race, Westminster swept the top three positions for the team win. Karner again was the op finisher, followed by Gedde-Dahl in second and Marc Perathoner in third. By virtue of two first place finishes, Westminster won the overall title at the event.
The women claimed a second consecutive win by sweeping each of the team events. On Friday,
Kendall Brown, Camilla Fraschini, and Perrine Voisin finished 1-2-3 to lead the Griffins to a team win in the slalom. That was followed with another 1-2 finish in Saturday's giant slalom. Brown again won the individual title with Franschini coming away with a second place result.
