Westminster Finishes Second in Giant Slalom

SUNDAY RIVER, Maine – The Westminster men's alpine ski team finished second overall in the Giant Slalom event at the USCSA National Championships on Thursday afternoon. Westminster was less that seven-tenths of a second behind Sierra Nevada College for the title.

Marc Perathoner was the top Griffin with his third place finish. Perathoner completed his two runs with a total time of 2:09.10 and posted the second fastest time on the second run at 1:05.23. Jurgen Karner finished fourth overall after going 1:03.61 in the first run and 1:05.90 in the second run for a total time of 2:09.51.

Lorentz Gedde-Dahl finished sixth with a two-run time of 2:10.23. Gedde-Dahl posted the sixth-best time in the first run with a time of 1:04.09. Jacob Ringbrandt rounded out the Westminster team with a 31st place finish thanks to a total time of 2:15.74.

Philip Brattstrom of Sierra Nevada won the individual title with his combined time of 2:07.78. He posted the fastest time in each run, including a 1:02.60 in the first run. Marcus Plyhr of Sierra Nevada finished at 2:08.94.

Sierra Nevada won the team title with a time of 388.18 with the Griffins placing second at 388.84. Rocky Mountain College finished third with a time of 395.24.

The Westminster men are back in action on Saturday, March 6 for the Slalom event. The Westminster women' look to repeat as national champions taking a first-place finish from the giant slalom into Friday's slalom event.
