SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster men's and women's golf teams opens the spring portion of the schedule with the third Frontier Conference event of the year. The opening round will take place on Monday, April 12 with rounds two and three on Tuesday, April 13. The tournament will be played at the Lewiston Country Club in Lewiston, Idaho. The course is a par 72 and is 6,586 yards for the men and 5,422 yards for the women.
The Westminster men's team sits in fifth place in the conference through the first two events during the fall. The Griffins finished fifth at each of the first two tournaments. They posted a low round of 296 during the third round of the second event in Billings, Montana. The men currently average a total score of 317.7 per round through three fall tournaments.
Bryce Till leads the men into the spring season with an average round score of 76.7. Till posted one round under par in three fall events and recorded one finish in the top 10.
Matt Hardy shot an average of 78.9 per round while playing in all three events to rank second on the team.
Skyler Bloxham and
Matthew Van Wagoner are the other two competitors for the Griffins this week. Bloxham has an average round of 88.3 while Van Wagoner is at 89.8.
The Westminster women's team is sixth in the Frontier standings, one stroke ahead of Great Falls. The Griffins are averaging a total score of 415.8 per round and posted a team-best 387 during the second round in Billings. They also shot sub-400 in the second round in Helena at the first event of the year, and during the third round of the Billings tournament.
Chloe McClintick leads the team into the spring with her average round of 92.3. McClintick shot a personal best 241 during the tournament in Billings thanks to a final round 78. She has posted the top four individual round scores for the Griffins this season.
Kendall Brown shot an average round of 102.7 during the fall to rank second on the team.
Shonti Breisch and
Jacqueline Graham also competed in the fall with average rounds of 104.2 and 125.8 respectively.
Keshia Catten and
Regan Lelli have joined the squad for the spring season.
Westminster will complete the 2010 regular season at the Frontier Conference Championships on April 26-27. The final tournament will be played at Larchmont Golf Course in Missoula, Montana. The winning teams and top placing individuals will earn a trip to the NAIA National Championships.
