SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster men's basketball team has signed Jake orchard to a Frontier Conference letter of intent for the 2010-11 season. Orchard will complete the Griffins roster for the upcoming season and is the seventh player to sign with the team for next season.

Orchard will come to Westminster after spending time on the University of Utah football team. The 6-4 sophomore prepped at High land High School in Salt Lake City where he averaged 16 points per game as a senior and led the team to a state championship. He was named the Utah Class 4A Most Valuable Senior that season.

"We are very fortunate to add Jake Orchard to our team at such a late date,” head coach Tommy Connor said. “He is very excited to play basketball again and focus on his academics as a pre-med student. Jake adds excellent skill and toughness to our guard line. Once he learns to quit tackling the guys on the floor, he will develop into an outstanding guard in our system."

Westminster begins the 2010-11 season on November 5 with a home game against San Diego Christian. The three-time defending Frontier Conference champions went 27-6 last season and advanced to the second round of the NAIA National Championships.
