Griffins Finish 18th at NAIA National Championships

GREENVILLE, Tenn. – The Westminster College women's golf team finished the third round of the 2012 NAIA National Championships in 18th overall and missed the cut for Friday's final round.

Westminster finished with a round of 324 on Thursday to give them 965 strokes for the tournament.  That was 11 shots behind USC-Beaufort in the 17th and final position to qualify for the final round. British Columbia continued to lead the team standings with 908 strokes after posting a 304 on Thursday.

Brandi Bork led the Griffins in the third round with a 78. It was the best round of the tournament for Bork and matched the score that Jenteal Jackson recorded during the opening round. Jackson shot 80 on Thursday to finish the tournament at 238 in her final collegiate event.

Candace Dechant went 9-over on Thursday to shoot 81 while Mari Hutsi posted an 84 during the third round. Mikayla Williamson recorded a score of 86 during the round to round out the field for the Griffins.

The 18th-place finish is four spots behind the 14th the Griffins placed last season. This is the second trip to the NAIA National Championships in school history.
