Clotile Harris of Westminster College was named Frontier Conference volleyball player of the week. This is her first weekly award from the conference and she becomes the first Griffin to claim the weekly honor this season.

8.28.10 | Women's Volleyball
The Westminster women’s volleyball team dropped both of its matches at the Tournament of Champions presented by Courtyard Marriott Downtown on Saturday. They opened with a 3-1 loss against No. 9 Azusa Pacific in the final match of pool play. They then fell 3-1 to 16th-ranked College of Idaho in the semi-finals of the tournament.

The Westminster women’s volleyball team got the season started in exciting fashion by picking up two wins at the Tournament of Champions presented by Courtyard Marriott Downtown. Westminster opened the season with a 3-0 sweep of Daemen College. In the night cap, Westminster rallied from down two sets to win a five set thriller over No. 16 College of Idaho.

The Westminster men’s soccer team came up short in an attempt to defeat top-10 ranked teams in consecutive days. The 10th-ranked Benedictine College used goal on a penalty kick in the 11th minute to help them escape Dumke Field with a 1-0 victory.

The Westminster men’s soccer team opened the 2010 campaign with a 2-1 upset victory over second-ranked The Master’s College on Thursday at Dumke Field. Westminster (1-0-0) used two second half goals to rally past the 2009 NAIA runner-up and start the season in exciting fashion.

The Westminster men’s basketball team has signed Jake orchard to a Frontier Conference letter of intent for the 2010-11 season. Orchard will complete the Griffins roster for the upcoming season f and is the seventh player to sign with the team for next season.

The Westminster men’s soccer team opens the 2010 season with two games on Dumke Field this week. The season opener is on Thursday, August 26 against second-ranked The Master’s College at 5 p.m. Then on Friday, August 27, Westminster welcomes 10th-ranked Benedictine College to Dumke for a 5 p.m. kickoff.

The Griffins welcome No. 9 Azusa Pacific, No. 16 College of Idaho and Daemen College to the Behnken Field House for matches on Friday, August 27 and Saturday, August 28.
