The transition to NCAA Division II is a minimun three-year process which began in the 2015-16 academic year and ended when Westminster was approved for active NCAA Division II membership in June 2018.

Westminster completed provisional year one in the 2015-16 academic year and competed as a provisional member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Griffins were not eligible to participate in any RMAC or NCAA postseason events. Westminster completed provisional year two and competed as a provisional member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Griffins were not  eligible to participate in any RMAC or NCAA postseason events. Westminster will continue to compete as a provisional RMAC member. The Griffins will not yet be eligible to compete in the RMAC (which have an automatic qualifier) or NCAA postseason events. Westminster completed the NCAA Division II membership process and became an active member on June 13. Beginning September 1, the Griffins are eligible to receive NCAA II membership benefits and compete in all RMAC and NCAA postseason events they qualify for.

ABOUT THE RMAC
The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference is a premier NCAA Division II conference located in the states of Colorado, Nebraska, New Mexico, South Dakota, and Utah. The RMAC currently competes in 22 NCAA Division II sports and has earned 52 NCAA Division II national championships and 44 national runner-ups since 1992. Founded in 1909, the RMAC is the most historic athletic conference headquartered in the western United States and also in Division II.
