Westminster women’s cross country runner Amanda Theobald placed second at the 2009 Frontier Conference Championship meet on Friday afternoon. Theobald, a senior from Mapleton, Utah, completed the 5K course in 20:08. She was 57 second behind the race winner, Amber Watson of Rocky Mountain College.

SALT LAKE CITY – The 2009 Frontier Conference Cross Country Championships are coming to Salt Lake City and will be hosted by Westminster College. They event will be held on Friday, November 6, at Sugar House Park. This will be the first time that Westminster has hosted the event.

The Westminster men’s and women’s cross country teams begin the 2009 season this Saturday, September 12 at the Roger Curran Invitational. The event is hosted by Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho. The men’s event is a 6K race and the women’s event is a 4K race.

SALT LAKE CITY – The NAIA released the 2008-09 list of Scholar Teams on Monday, and Westminster had seven teams recognized for their classroom performance. Leading the way for the Griffins was the Men’s Cross Country squad with a combined team Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.75. That was the 10th-best GPA of any NAIA team and the top men’s cross country team.

SALT LAKE CITY – Westminster Director of Athletics Shay Wyatt announced the hiring of Craig Binkley as the new head coach for the men’s and women’s cross country teams at the college. Binkley will lead the Griffin cross country program into the sixth season of competition this August.
