The Westminster women’s cross country team has added two recruits for the 2010 season. Head coach Craig Binkley announced today that Ellie Layman and Chelsey Fraser have each signed a Frontier Conference letter of intent to join the Westminster squad. They become the first two recruits signed for next season by Binkley.

The Westminster College Athletics Department has announced they will be expanding the men’s and women’s cross country program to include an indoor and outdoor track season starting in the fall of 2010. The program will be under the direction of current cross country head coach Craig Binkley.

Westminster senior harrier Amanda Theobald concluded her career by placing 160th at the 2009 NAIA National Championships on Saturday afternoon. Theobald completed the 5K course with a time of 20:20 to rank in the top half of the 330 woman field.

Westminster senior Amanda Theobald will compete in the 2009 NAIA Women’s Cross Country National Championships in Vancouver, Washington on Saturday, November 21. This is the second consecutive year that Theobald qualified for the national meet and she is the only harrier in school history to qualify for the meet.

Westminster women’s cross country runner Amanda Theobald placed second at the 2009 Frontier Conference Championship meet on Friday afternoon. Theobald, a senior from Mapleton, Utah, completed the 5K course in 20:08. She was 57 second behind the race winner, Amber Watson of Rocky Mountain College.

SALT LAKE CITY – The 2009 Frontier Conference Cross Country Championships are coming to Salt Lake City and will be hosted by Westminster College. They event will be held on Friday, November 6, at Sugar House Park. This will be the first time that Westminster has hosted the event.

The Westminster cross country teams completed the Carroll College Invitational on Saturday with their best results of the young season. The women’s team finished with 41 points to finish in second place, five points behind Carroll.

The Westminster cross country teams competed in the Roger Curran Invitational hosted by Northwest Nazarene University on Saturday. The Griffins men placed sixth in the team standings, while the women placed fifth.
