The Westminster men’s lacrosse team saw its run through the MCLA National Championship come to an end in the semi-finals with a 9-7 loss against in-state rival Utah Valley on Friday afternoon. The 10th-seeded Griffins were trying for a second championship game appearance in three seasons, but they couldn’t overtake the third-seeded Wolverines.

Westminster Upsets Dayton for Trip to Semi-Finals
The Westminster men’s lacrosse team advanced to the semi-finals of MCLA National Championship with an upset 14-11 win over No. 2 seed Dayton on Wednesday afternoon. The 10th-seeded Griffins outscored Dayton 7-4 in the final 15 minutes to improve to 13-7 on the season while ending Dayton’s season at 11-2.

After making a fourth consecutive appearance in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference championship game, the Westminster men’s lacrosse team earned an at-large berth into the MCLA National Championship Tournament. The Griffins earned a No. 10 seed and will face seventh-seeded Elon in the opening round of the 16-team tournament.

The Westminster men’s lacrosse team got back on track with a 21-7 defeat of Northern Arizona on Sunday afternoon. The win jumps the Griffins to 10-6 on the season and snaps a three-game losing streak. They also clinch a share of the RMLC West Division title and an opening round bye in the upcoming RMLC Playoffs.
