The Westminster women’s volleyball team had four players honored with postseason awards by the Frontier Conference on Thursday night. Frontier Conference commissioner Kent Paulson announced the awards during a conference tournament social at the Lewis-Clark State College Activity Center on Thursday night.

With the 2009 regular season over, the Westminster women’s volleyball team is headed to the Frontier Conference Tournament. Westminster finished the conference season at 6-8 and earned the fifth seed for the tournament. They will face the fourth-seeded Rocky Mountain College in the opening round of the event on Friday, November 13 at 2:00 p.m.

The Westminster women’s volleyball team dropped a tough 3-1 decision against Rocky Mountain College on Saturday afternoon. Westminster struggled offensively in the 14-25, 17-25, 25-23, 19-25 loss, managing just 45 kills in the four sets. The loss drops the Griffins to 9-19 overall and 6-8 in the Frontier Conference.

The Westminster women’s volleyball team went toe-to-toe with No. 19 Carroll College, on Thursday night and eventually dropped the five-set thriller. Westminster rallied from an 0-2 deficit to force a fifth set, only to see the Frontier Conference’s top team pull out a 25-22, 25-19, 22-25, 23-25, 15-13 victory.

The Westminster women’s volleyball team plays the final two matches of the 2009 regular season this Thursday and Saturday in the Behnken Field House. Westminster will face No. 19 Carroll College on November 5 at 7:00 p.m. and they takes on Rocky Mountain College on November 7 at 2:00 p.m.

The Westminster women’s volleyball team had its perfect home record snapped with a 3-0 loss against No. 24 Lewis-Clark State on Friday night in the Behnken Field House. Westminster dropped both matches against LC State this season after tonight’s 25-16, 25-20, 25-21 loss.

One night after their bus was involved in an accident, the Westminster women’s volleyball team played through the emotion of the situation with a five-set win over Montana State-Northern on Friday night. Westminster rallied to take the final two sets after finding themselves trailing 2-1 through the first three sets.

The Westminster women’s volleyball used one of their better offensive performances of the season to defeat Montana Western 3-0 on Saturday afternoon. Nine different players recorded at least one kill as the Griffins won the match 25-19, 25-14, 25-14.
