SALT LAKE CITY – Westminster College freshman Nicole Roberts has qualified for the 2012 NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships.  The national meet will be held from March 1-3 at the SPIRE Institute Track and Field Sports Complex in Geneva, Ohio.

Roberts earned a spot in the field for the 60 Meter Hurdles event after posting a time of 8.70 seconds during last weekend's Wildcat Indoor Open in the 55 Meter Hurdles. That time translates to a 9.29 in a 60 Meter event and places her 30th in the NAIA.

Roberts is from Meridian, Idaho and she becomes the first Griffin, male of female, to qualify for the NAIA National Championships in the brief history of the program. The track program was started at Westminster during the 2009-10 academic year.

The 60 Meter Hurdle event will feature the trials at 1 p.m. (EST) on Friday, March 2. The finals will be run at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 3. Live timing for the meet can be found at www.NAIA.org.
