Westminster Loses Two Matches in Hawaii

HONOLULU, Hawaii – The Westminster women's volleyball team dropped two matches over the weekend in Hawaii. On Friday night, Westminster lost 3-1 to Brigham Young-Hawaii. That was followed with a 3-1 loss against Chaminade on Saturday afternoon. With the two losses, Westminster falls to 6-15 on the season.

Talita Kresser led the Griffins with 14 kills on 64 attempts against BYU-Hawaii. Westminster hit negative .024 in the match, their lowest of the season. The Griffins recorded 84 digs in the match including 30 from Tahnie Blymiller and 13 from Katie McLintock. BYU-Hawaii had a 47-39 advantage in kills.

Becky Burke had a team-high 12 kills in the loss at Chaminade on Saturday. Burke his .360 in the match on 25 attempts. Kelsey Schaufler hit .417 (7-0-17) with two blocks. Kresser contributed 10 kills and Stephanie Jones had eight of her own. Blymiller finished with 29 digs and Kresser added 15.

Westminster returns to Frontier Conference action on Thursday, October 15 when they host Montana Tech. First serve in the Behnken Field House is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
