SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster men's basketball team announced today that Marcus Parry has signed a Frontier Conference letter of intent to join the Griffins in the 2010-11 season. Parry becomes the second recruit to sign with head coach Tommy Connor for next season.
Parry will join the Griffins from Littleton, Colorado where he preps at Littleton High School. He averaged 10 points per game while shooting 35% from three-point range during his senior season. The 6-5 guard was named First Team Academic All-State and Continental League Honorable Mention this past season. He is also a National Achievement Scholar award winner. Parry chose Westminster over M.I.T., Holy Cross, Colorado School of Mines, and Northwestern.
"Marcus is a terrific high school recruit for us,” assistant coach
Adam Hiatt said. “He is a very cerebral player with the ability to rise up and shoot as well or better than any high school player we've seen in some time. We expect Marcus to embrace our expectations for him, and, with work, make himself a very good college player."
Westminster just completed a 27-6 season that saw them advance to the second round of the NAIA National Championships. They won the Frontier Conference regular season and tournament championships for a second consecutive season along with leading the nation with six Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes.
