DENVER, Colo. - The Westminster men's lacrosse team faces Utah Valley on Friday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the MCLA National Championship. The game will begin at 11 a.m. and be played inside Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

Friday's meeting is the third of the season and sixth all-time between the two teams.  Westminster defeated Utah Valley 9-8 in overtime on March 13 at Dumke Field.  Utah Valley responded with an 18-10 victory on the RMLC championship game on May 1.  The Griffins are 3-2 in the five total meetings with the Wolverines.

Utah Valley in the No. 3 seed in the tournament and sit at 15-3 on the season.  They enter the game on a five-game winning streak and winners in 14 of the last 15 they have played.  UVU defeated Briarcliffe 10-9 in the opening round of the tournament and then scored with 20 seconds remaining against St. John's for a 9-8 win in the quarterfinals.

Westminster is 13-7 overall and winners in four of its last five games played.  They are 7-2 all-time at the MCLA National Championship and won the 2008 National Championship.  The 10th-seeded Griffins advanced to this game with an 11-7 win over Elon in the opening round and a 14-11 upset win over No. 2 Dayton in the quarterfinals.

The winner of this semi-final game will meet the winner between St. Thomas and Davenport in the D2 Championship game on Saturday at 4 p.m.  That game will be broadcast live on Fox College Sports.
