Box Score MIAMI, Fla. – For the second consecutive game the Westminster women's soccer team was defeated in overtime. This time Saint Thomas (Fla.) scored with four second remaining in the second overtime to stun the Griffins. Westminster is now 1-4-1 on the season and 0-3-1 away from Dumke Field.
Sara Mira gave Saint Thomas a 1-0 victory when she found the back of the net with just four seconds reaming before the two teams earned a draw. The goal came on just the sixth shot on goal of the game for the home squad.
Westminster finished with a 17-11 advantage in shots attempted, but had all 13 of their shots on frame turned away by Victoria Shahbaz in her shutout.
Brianna Wilson led the Westminster barrage with five shots including for on frame. Sarah Swesnon attempted three shots while six others recorded at least one attempt.
Lindsay Bekken suffered the defeat in goal after making five saves.
The Griffins will return home for a game with Point Loma Nazarene on Friday, September 10. The action at Dumke Field will begin at 11 a.m.
