The Westminster men's and women's golf team open the 2010 fall season by playing host to the first Frontier Conference event of the season. The tournament will be played on Monday, September 13 and Tuesday, September 14 at Mountain Dell Golf Course in Salt Lake City. The tournament will be played on the 6,787 yard canyon course which is a par 72.
The three-round event will feature the first two rounds being played on Monday with the final round on Tuesday. Each team will count the top four scores from each five member team. Along with Westminster, teams from Lewis-Clark State, Carroll, Rocky Mountain, Montana Western, Great Falls and Montana Tech will be competing in the men's event. The women's event will feature Carroll, Great Falls, Lewis-Clark State, MSU-Northern, Montana Tech, Montana Western, Rocky Mountain and Westminster.
Westminster Men's Golf
Bryce Till leads the 2010-11 men's team into his senior season. Till was the top individual for the Griffins last season finishing 18th in the conference standings with an average score of 78.3. Till has played 24 rounds in his Griffin career and shot an average round of 78.0.
Skyler Bloxham, Matt Stern and Matt Van Wagoner also return for the Griffins this season. Westminster will also welcome seven newcomers to the mix this coming season.
Westminster Women's Golf
Sophomore
Chloe McClintick was the top finisher for the Griffins last year. McClintick finished 12th in the Frontier Conference with her average round of 84.2. Along with McClintick, Westminster also returns
Shonti Breisch and
Regan Lelli. Among the eight newcomers is junior transfer
Jenteal Jackson. Jackson spent time on the Brigham Young University golf team and recently placed third at the 2010 Utah Women's Amateur.
Looking Back
The Westminster men lost an opening round match with Montana Tech while the women fell to Rocky Mountain at the 2010 Frontier Conference Championships. The men finished the season fifth in the conference behind Till and his 18th-place finish. The women were eighth in the Frontier and led individually by McClintick and her 12th-place result.
Looking Ahead
Westminster returns to the links on September 27-28 at Frontier Conference Event No. 2. Great Falls is the host of that event which will be played at Eagle Falls Golf Club.
