Complete Release | PDF

SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster College men's and women's cross country teams took steps to turn the program in the right direction in 2011.  Both teams were deep and improved at every meet during the season.

Men's Team
The Griffin men's team went eight deep this season with six of those eight entering all five events on the schedule.  The team started the year with a sixth-place result at the Roger Curran Invitational.  They also claimed a fourth-place result at the Coyote Twilight in October before finishing sixth at the Frontier Conference Championships.

Oliver Lange paced the Griffins all season and finished as the top Griffin at four of the five events.  He finished in the top third at four of the five events he entered.  Lange finished 11th at the Frontier Conference Championships with a personal-best time of 26:09 over the 5K course.  With that result, he earned All-Frontier Conference honors, becoming the first member of the Westminster men's team to earn that distinction.

Dylan MacNevin consistently finished behind Lange among the Griffins and was placed in the top half in each of the four meets he entered.  Parker Mildenhall also placed in the top half in four events and sparked his year with a 15th-place result at the Bob Firman Invitational.

Women's Team
The Griffin women featured nine harriers with seven of them competing in all five scheduled events.  Westminster picked up a third-place result at the Bob Firman Invitational.  The team finished sixth at the Frontier Conference Championships.

Monique Alvisais-Anhalt anchored the women harriers for most of the season.  She was the top finishing Griffin at four events and posted three of the top four times of the season by anyone on the squad.  Chelsey Fraser also had a stellar season and capped it off by placing 26th to lead the team at the Frontier Championships.

Jana Peale had a solid freshman campaign and twice earned top-20 finishes.  She posted a personal-best 20:35 at the conference meet en route to a 30th-place result.  Emmalee Barajas also had a personal-best of 20:46 at the Frontier Championships and ran a 17:10 4K in the season opening Roger Curran Invitational.
