KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Westminster College women's soccer team had four student-athletes named a 2011 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete, the national office announced. In total, 485 student-athletes across the NAIA received the honor.
Heather Hillam,
Nikki Kopfman,
Elaina Pappas and
Sarah Swenson were each named a Scholar Athlete for the current season. The four players on the list is the second-most in a season in school history and gives the Griffins a total of 16 Scholar Athletes in the program's history.
This is the third straight year that Pappas has been named to the list which ties her with
Maddie Maldonado and
Danielle Rankin for the most in school history. Swenson made the list for the second consecutive season while Hillam and Kopfman receive their first honor.
Student-athletes are nominated by their institution's head coach and must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status in order qualify for the honor.
