Griffins clinch division crown with 20-1 win

Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The third-ranked Westminster College men's lacrosse team defeated Western State 20-1 on Sunday afternoon to complete a perfect road trip.

Westminster is now 13-2 overall and 3-0 in conference games. They have clinched the RMLC West Division title and will receive a first round bye in the conference tournament next month.  Western State falls to 0-7 and 0-3.

Gian Sexsmith led the Griffins attack with four goals and two assists. Jake Arthur and Matt Hearn added three goals apiece. Kyle Postler recorded five points with one goal and four assists with Andy Lehr and Collin Madsen recording three assists apiece. Marshall Serzen won 15-of-16 faceoffs with six ground balls. Goalies Chris Burckle, Adam Marfice and Craig Patrick combined to make five saves.

Westminster will conclude the regular season on Saturday when they travel to Provo to face Brigham Young. The game will be played at North Field with a 1 p.m. start time.
