Westminster has 11 players named all-conference

Gian Sexsmith
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Westminster College men's lacrosse team had 11 players named to one of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference all-conference teams, the league office announced today.

Westminster senior Gian Sexsmith was named the RMLC Offensive Player of the Year. The 5-10 attack from Stuart, Fla. has scored 55 goals this season and set a new school record with his 88 total points. He is two goals shy of a new single season record at Westminster and he needs nine goals to become the all-time leader at Westminster. Sexsmith becomes the first Griffin to be named the RMLC Offensive Player of the Year and he was also named First Team All-Conference at attack for the second straight season.

Junior Jake Arthur and sophomore Collin Madsen were each named First Team All-Conference at midfield. Arthur was a third team selection in 2011 while this is the first all-conference nod for Madsen.  Jeff Peters was named to the first team at defense midfield after making the second team last season. Braeden Daly and Matt Lambourne were each named to the first team at defense. This is the second consecutive first team selection for Daly and the second all-conference pick for Lambourne.

Marshall Serzen was named to the first team at face off specialist for the second consecutive season. Serzen won 74.6% of the 4089 faceoffs he has taken this year. This is his third all-conference award after also being named second team in 2010. Goalie Chris Burckle was named the first team goalie in his first season as a starter. Burckle has made 139 saves with a 60.9% save percentage during the year.

Making the second team from Westminster was Pat Hagan and Kevin Gee. Hagan was named the long stick middie on the second team while Gee was named at midfield. This is the second all-conference selection for Gee after he was third team last year.  Matt Hearn was named honorable mention at attack to round out the Westminster selections.
